Maria, a mother of seven, was referred to Tumaini when two of her children fell gravely ill. One child required immediate treatment with a drip, while Maria and her younger child were diagnosed with pneumonia. Tumaini’s care didn’t stop at the clinic doors.
Staff members visited Maria’s home, bringing essential supplies like food. This support paved the way for three of her children to receive educational sponsorships through Compassion International. Though Tumaini temporarily closed for eight months, Maria’s story opened the team’s eyes to the diverse ways they can serve their community.
Lillian’s Story: Choosing Life Against the Odds
Lillian came to Tumaini in distress, experiencing abdominal pain and fearing an unplanned pregnancy. After confirming she was five months pregnant, she shared her fears: as a single mother with two children and no income, she felt unable to continue the pregnancy.
